The heart of Markham's condo growth is Markham Centre, the area around Unionville GO station that the province and York Region have designated a Major Transit Station Area for high-density intensification. The nearby Downtown Markham blocks along Enterprise Boulevard and Highway 7 already mix condos, offices and shops within walking distance of the station. Further east, the Cornell Centre precinct near Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Cornell bus terminal is planned as another mixed-use, walkable community. Markham's appeal for condo buyers is a combination of strong schools, a large technology-employment base along the Highway 7 corridor, and GO Transit service on the Stouffville line into Union Station. Because most of this supply is still moving through planning and construction, launches tend to open in stages.
